The Fine Art of China Painting

Porcelain painting, not to be confused with ceramics, is a fine art that has been around for thousands of years. Painting on porcelain pieces of white or ivory color with powered paints that are mixed with mineral oil to the consistancy of tooth paste are applied one layer at a time after each firing in a kiln.
China painting is the sister to watercolors - starting with your lightest to darkest. If you are interested in learning this ancient dying art contact us at wetpaintstudiosofwalden@ gmail.com. We would love to share our knowledge and fellowship with any one interested in this fine art.

SEMINAR IN MARCH GIVEN by LOIS BLACKBURNE

Jan has a great start on her roses.

Helen painting her design on a round tile

Marilyn as she works on her tray.

Nothing like china paint and brushes!

Lois lending a helping hand with her magic brush!

Our trays have now been fired 3 times after a 2 day seminar in March.  We will have another 2 days together in April to work on them.  I will post pictures of our completed pieces as soon as possible.  It has been fun and I wish to thank Lois and Jan again!

Latest News for Big Thicket Porcelain Art Club - February and March

True to form for February in East Texas, we did not have a February Meeting due to rain, sleet and ice. We were all a bit disappointed and anxious to start our seminar with Lois, painting  roses on trays.  We survived the weather and disappointment of waiting another month to start our group project.  March was here before we knew it and we had a 2 day session at Jan Wamsley's home.  The pieces have a great start and third fire. There are so many dimensions  of painting and theory Lois has incorporated into a fun seminar. Thanks Lois for sharing your time and knowledge with us.  Thanks to  Jan for your wonderful warm hospitality, also for firing all of our trays for us!  We would have been lost without you,  some of us don't have a kiln large enough to accommodate a tray.

Esquite Piece by Lois Blackburne donated to State Convention for our Auction.  We can always count on Lois to donate her time and china pieces to help enrich The Porcelain Arts.
